Linebacker talks visit to AT&T Stadium?
Texas linebacker prospect La’Darius Hamilton from Corrigan (TX) was at last night’s Texas game at AT&T Stadium. The Corrigan native was impressed by the atmosphere, even though the Longhorns weren’t in Austin he thought the fans traveled well.?
“Even though it was a neutral game, I still felt like we were at DKR because of all the Longhorn fans,” Hamilton said.?
Hamilton was also impressed by how the Longhorns played Saturday. He though that there was an obvious improvement from last week’s disappoint blowout loss to BYU.?
“I was really impressed with what they did on defense,” Hamilton said. “They were making a lot of big plays.”?
As a linebacker, Hamilton was watching his position closely and he saw both good and bad from the Longhorn linebackers.?
“I expected them to make more of the tackles,” Hamilton said. “But they played a great game too.”?
Hamilton said that he expects to attend at least one more Texas game before the end of the season but he doesn’t know which game yet.?
Hamilton also said that the coaching staff hasn’t talked to him lately.?
Omenihu talks Texas-UCLA and his season?
I talked to three star defensive end Charles Omenihu from Rowlett (TX) last week and he wanted to see a much improved offense that would be to keep the defense off the field. So what did Omenihu think of Texas last night??
“I think they did better,” Omenihu said. “Honestly, I felt that there were a few plays that cost them the game. I wanted them to be able to get a first down three minutes a fifty-something seconds left in the game after they got that fumble recovery. I feel like they should have run the ball more in that situation.”?
Omenihu also said that Texas needs to improve on kickoffs as it was a part of why Texas lost.?
Omenihu was also impressed by the atmosphere at AT&T Stadium last night.?
“It was very, very loud,” Omenihu said. “The fans were crazy. I liked the energy. People came from Austin to support the Longhorns. The fan base is still alive and well even though they’re down right now but they see the light at the end of the tunnel.”?
Outside of Texas’ game, Omenihu talked about his season. His Rowlett Eagles are 2-1 after a tough 28-0 loss to Keller where Omenihu faced tough competition.?
“I held my own but we didn’t have our quarterback,” Omenihu said. “That’s not an excuse because we had to stop them on defense. My season is going well. I’m looking forward [to winning in district] I’m looking forward to dominating my district.”?
Omenihu remains a strong commit to Texas.?
Pflugerville safety talks about his season?
I caught up with three star safety Louis Kelly from Pflugerville (TX) to see how his season is going and he said that it is going well.?
Kelley’s Pflugerville Panthers are 2-1 this season and are prepping for district play.?
“We lost our first game Friday but we fought to the end against Georgetown 27 to 31,” Kelley said. “I’m fourth [on the team in] most tackles and leading in interceptions. We play Leander Rouse next and I’m looking forward to all district games. But I’m really hype for when we play Pflugerville Hendrickson and Round Rock.”?
Kelley is hyped about the games against Hendrickson and Round Rock because his team is big time rivals with the two teams.?
Kelley said that he has talked to the Longhorn coaching staff recently about how his season is going.?
Kelley also said that the staff will be at Pflugerville’s second district game against Round Rock.?
Pennamon talks about season?
D’Vaughn Pennamon, Manvel H.S. running back and teammate of Reggie Hemphill, said that he wasn’t able to catch the Longhorn game on Saturday but he did take some time to discuss his season.?
“It’s going great we are 2-0,” Pennamon said. “I’m doing pretty good ready to start district.”?
As Manvel preps for district, Pennamon has a few teams he’s ready to play now.?
“Dawson and Pearland [is who I’m looking forward to playing],” Pennamon said.?
Pennamon said that he hasn’t heard from the Texas coaching staff recently. But he has been getting looked at by Arkansas. He also said that the Razorback coaching staff has talked to him a little bit.?
Wallace talks about season goals?
Four star safety Christian Wallace from Katy (TX) wasn’t able to watch the Texas game on Saturday as he took a visit to Texas A&M’s game against Rice. ??Despite going to College Station, Wallace said that the Longhorns have been in contact with him. Wallace said that the Texas staff has been trying to get him to come to a Texas game this season. He said that he will be making a trip to Austin soon but he didn’t say to which game.?
Wallace also talked about his season at Katy Tompkins. He said that he is “doing his thing” but the team is struggling as they’ve started 0-2. But he keeps in good spirits as this is Tompkins’ first season playing football according to Wallace.?
While his team may be struggling, Wallace has some nice goals. ??“[My goals are] to get three picks and over 500 yards receiving,” Wallace said. “I know I can do it.”?
Wallace says that a lot of teams are giving him looks and that he is still looking at his options.
