Deonte Williams does a little bit of everything for his high school team. He plays running back, wide receiver and outside linebacker. Williams is coming off an impressive 2013 season as a sophomore with 47 tackles, nine for loss, four sacks, two interceptions and one fumble recovery.
"Our record is 3-1 and our next opponent is John Paul II," Williams said. "I have played fast, hard and physical. I've done well with keeping cut blocks off my legs and pass rush and pursuit. I don't feel like I need to work on anything; I've come into the season in the best shape I have ever been to put me at the top of my game."
Williams is on the radar of many college teams and the process is just getting started.
"I have offers from Baylor, TCU and Texas Tech," Williams said. "I have visited TCU and Baylor so far and right now I don't have any upcoming visits. All of the Texas schools representing the state well and competing hard. I was impressed with Texas A&M's quarterback this year stepping up the way he does every game."
Williams sees something in the Texas head coach that reminds him of his father.
"Coach Strong reminds me a lot of my dad," Williams said. "He's a very disciplined man and coach. I think Coach Strong runs a well organized program, and I respect his core values because they also prepare you for life after football.
