Mike Williams with Strong Words

One of the surprise players during the Texas Under the Lights camp back in July was a defensive linemen named Mike Williams. Williams checks in at 6-foot-3, 280-pounds from Fort Worth (TX) All Saints Episcopal School.

Mike Williams is a four-star defensive standout. He is currently the No 8 ranked defensive tackle in the country for 2016 and has the offers every high school player dreams about.

"We are 3 and 2 and play Trinity Valley," Williams said. "I've done well with most parts just when I get pass rush opportunities I need to make a bigger impact."

Williams is the No 84 ranked player regardless of position for his class. He is a very soft spoken, hard working and determined young man.

"TCU and Oklahoma State are showing the most love and I have a Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and TCU visit set up," Williams said.

What is the one thing that has surprised Williams so far through four weeks of the college football season?

"The SEC beginning to shift power with Miss state and Ole Miss playing well," Williams said.

Williams is being recruited by linebacker coach Brian Jean-Mary and defensive line coach Chris Rumph.

"Texas is a very prideful school and a great school if you want to stay in Texas," Williams said. "Coach Strong wants you to be fully committed and has expectations that must be met by all players and if not you're gone."
