Moore expects toughness this weekend

2015 three-star offensive lineman Tyler Moore (Galena Park, Texas) has been at almost every Texas game this season. With an offer from Texas it appears that Moore really likes the Longhorns.

Moore has seen Texas at its best and at its worst and he expects to see the Longhorns continue to improve when they take on Baylor.

“I want to see what they improved on since the UCLA game,” Moore said. “[I expect] a lot more toughness especially against the good opponent.”

Moore also said the he has recently talked to the coaching staff. He said that he and the coaches have just been “catching up.” Moore also said that the staff was at his game against Euless Trinity.

Along with focusing in on the Longhorns, Moore has his focus on continuing to improve. He said that his team – Galena Park North Shore – is still trying to adapt to a new offensive system.

“[The season] is going well,” Moore said. “But there is a lot of improving to do. I think I’m playing well but, like the team, we gotta keep improving. [We just need to execute] this new offense.”

I also asked Moore if the result of the Baylor and Oklahoma games would influence his opinion on Texas and he said that he doesn’t think it would sway him against the Longhorns.

Bonner looking at three schools

2016 quarterback Logan Bonner (Rowlett, Texas) is having a solid season this year with the Rowlett Eagles. The Eagles are 4-1 overall and 2-1 in district this season.

“[The season] is going good,” Bonner said. “I’m playing really good and so is the team.”

Rowlett takes on the Garland Owls Friday night. After his game Friday, Bonner will make the trip to Austin to watch the Longhorns take on the Baylor Bears. Bonner expects Texas to keep improving and thinks they can give the Bears a run for their money.

“I think they can pull it out if the defense makes big plays,” Bonner said.

Bonner continued by saying that he hasn’t been able to talk to the coaching staff lately but they did talk to him throughout the summer. Bonner said that talking to the coaching staff is one of the things he looks forward to the most this weekend. He is also looking forward to seeing the staff win Saturday’s game.

While Bonner is looking at Texas, he is also getting interest from Oklahoma State, Houston and Oklahoma. But his top three consists of Texas, Oklahoma State and Houston.

2016 QB looking forward to Baylor game

2016 four-star quarterback Jalen Hurts (Channelview HS) is another 2016 quarterback on Texas’ radar. Hurts has been having a good season for Channelview.

“[The season is going] pretty good so far,” Hurts said. “We’re 5-0, 1-0 in district. We had a big win last week. We beat Port Arthur 70-49. I went 21 for 30 for 373 [yards] and four touchdowns. [I also] had 21 carries for 186 [yards] and five touchdowns plus two two-point conversations.”

Hurts said that the Texas coaching staff has been watching him this season and that they want him to attend a game.

“I talk to Coach Vaughn mostly,” Hurts said. “[Vaughn has] just been checking on me seeing that the season and school is going. [He’s been] telling me that he wanted me to come to a game.”

Coach Vaughn’s wish has been granted as Hurts said that he will be in attendance when the Longhorns take on Baylor. Hurts said that he looks forward to seeing the coaches again and enjoying the atmosphere at DKR during his visit this weekend.

While Hurts is getting attention from Texas, he is also hearing Arkansas, Mississippi State, Penn State and Texas A&M. Hurts also said that Oregon called earlier this week.
