Texas sophomore point guard Isaiah Taylor suffered a minor head injury in practice Tuesday, causing him to skip the trip to Kansas City for Texas' Big 12 Media Day appearance in Kansas City on Wednesday.

UT basketball spokesman Scott McConnell said early Wednesday that Isaiah Taylor "took a spill" late in Tuesday's practice in Austin causing Taylor to skip a trip to Kansas City for Big 12 Basketball Media Day on Wednesday.

I'm told Taylor suffered a minor head injury.

McConnell said the athletic training staff decided it was in Taylor's best interest not to make the flight to Kansas City, so Taylor remained in Austin.

I'm told it wasn't a severe injury and that Taylor staying in Austin was more precautionary because of the timing of Taylor's spill in practice in relation to how quickly he would have needed to depart for Kansas City.

Texas will be represented at Media Day at the Sprint Center by senior forward Jonathan Holmes and head coach Rick Barnes.

Taylor, who earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention and Big 12 All-Newcomer Team honors last year, led the team in assists (4.0 apg) and ranked second in scoring (12.7 ppg) while averaging a team-best 30.1 minutes per contest in 2013-14.
