Demarco Boyd Talks Charlie Strong and Texas

Outside linebacker Demarco Boyd checks in at 5-foot-11, 215-pounds from Gilmer (TX) Boyd is currently ranked as a three-star player at his position in the class of 2016.

Demarco Boyd has kept a close eye on head coach Charlie Strong since he was roaming the sidelines at Louisville. Florida State, Oklahoma, TCU and the Texas Longhorns are recruiting Boyd. Boyd gives us his thoughts on Charlie Strong and what the Texas offer means to him.

"I have been watching coach Strong since he was at Louisville with Teddy (Bridgewater), and I think coach Strong is a damn good coach," Boyd said. "I know this year at Texas is going to be difficult for him but I know he's going to change that place around. Being around him makes me want to play ball."

What does the Texas offer mean for Boyd and his family?

"It means a lot," Boyd said. "I just want to make my grandma proud and my family happy. I want to go to the Texas game and stay the whole time and just be able to hang around the players."

Even though Boyd has an older brother going through the process it is still difficult to navigate the recruiting cycle.

"The recruiting process is difficult and something I don't' pay attention to because I just enjoy ball while I have it," Boyd said. "I never take it easy because anybody at any moment career could be ended with an injury."

Boyd has interest from some major programs and knows he needs to continue to work.

"I need to work on tackling better and flipping my hips," Boyd said. "I can catch pretty good, and I have great running back vision but I can clean up some things. I can block pretty well but mostly I need to work on my defensive skills."
