Corsicana (TX) Navarro JUCO standout offensive tackle Tristan Nickelson has decided to be a part of the Texas Longhorn recruiting class. Nickelson checks in at 6-foot-7, 305-pounds. He is very familiar with the Texas program as he played high school ball at Clear Falls (TX)
Nickelson becomes the sixth offensive linemen in the class of 2015. Texas also has verbal commitments from Toby Weathersby, Connor Williams, Ronnie Major, Garrett Thomas and Patrick Vahe. Nickelson was previously committed to Iowa State. He is the 18th verbal commitment for the class of 2015. Look for the Longhorns to reach as many as 31 recruits if things fall their way.
Nickelson first met the Texas staff back in July and had a great first impression of the Longhorn coaches.
"I first met these coaches in July when I came up for camp," Nickelson said. "I had a good feeling about the whole staff. The offer from Texas is a dream come true. Being from Texas, an offer from Texas is like the pinnacle. I have grown up watching Texas and being able to say I'm apart of that family is a great feeling. My family is ecstatic; they are very proud and extremely excited for me."
Offensive line coach Joe Wickline was a big reason Nickelson has joined the Texas program.
"Coach Wickline, and I had talked about what was going to go down before we met with [Charlie] Strong," Nickelson said. "I think we all knew when they offered I would accept. I guess I would say that I'm not a flashy player, but I get the job done, and I make my blocks. I am excited to get to play for coach Strong and coach Wickline. I am excited to be a Longhorn!"
