Nathaniel Evans Impressed with Longhorns

Nathaniel Evans is your prototypical looking middle linebacker. The 6-foot, 231-pound backer checks in from River Ridge (LA) John Curtis Christian School. Evans and his family made an unofficial visit to Austin as the Longhorns hosted the Mountaineers on Saturday afternoon.

Coach Strong and the rest of the Longhorn staff earned a very big win this weekend in front of dozens of top tier high school recruits. One of them made the drive from River Ridge, Louisiana and his name is Nathaniel Evans.

"I went on a visit with my mother and uncle," Evans said. "We enjoyed everything about the visit. The fans were energetic the whole day from the tail-gating until the game. The stadium was beautiful. I was just thinking how much I started to like Texas being that its' my first time visiting Texas or a Texas school period. I like how much emotion the team played with, and I liked the aggression number 3 played with. I didn't get into a deep conversation with the recruits but did know a couple was taking official visits."

Coach Chris Vaughn recruits the state of Louisiana and has done an outstanding job. He is the recruiting coach for Evans and his family.

"I talked to coach Vaughn," Evans said. "We just talked about my season, the drive down and we talked about coach coming to visit me and coming to one of my games. Coach [Charlie] Strong is a very cool coach outside of the field and the defensive coordinator also."

Tulane is the only school to offer as far as Evans knows. They certainly will not be the last as he strongly believes more will come after the season. Evans is more focused on winning his third straight high school football title.

"My recruiting is very open right now, but today Texas made a big impression on me, and hopefully they will be offering soon," Evans said. "I have been talking to a few other schools and I plan on visiting Arkansas next week for the game against LSU we'll just see how the week plays."
