Clarington Says Texas is an Option

Devonaire Clarington checks in from Miami (Fla) Booker T. Washington. The four-star standout tight end prospect is ranked No eight at his respective position for the class of 2015.

Devonaire Clarington made his first official visit to Texas this weekend as they hosted West Virginia.

"The trip went great, " Clarington said. "I did not have a dull moment on this trip. The team was fun to be around, and the coaches were great. I mean that staff is great. Coach [Charlie] Strong was everything I expected him to be."

One of the main recruiters for Clarington is Coach Brian Jean-Mary. Jean-Mary has a lot of experiences recruiting the state of Florida and has built up a nice relationship with Clarington and his father.

"Coach BJ is a great guy, and we have an excellent relationship, and we have great communication. I have great communication with those coaches."

Clarington was on his official with some very close friends also from the state of Florida. Defensive backs Tim Irvin and Davante Davis were also in Austin this weekend. There have been some pretty strong rumors about these guys and others playing together at the next level.

"Texas is and option for all of us," Clarington said. "What we are trying to do is go to one college. If one of us goes to one place, we are all trying to go to the same place. We have all sat down and talked about going to the same place. That's what we are tying to do."

Not many people realized but Clarington's father is a big Charlie Strong fan and was in attendance this weekend to soak it all in.

"My dad liked coach Strong and what he did at Louisville," Clarington said. "He wants to see what he will do at Texas. If you look at Louisville, he made Louisville what they are."

This was the first official visit for Clarington. He is unsure of his future official visits, but Miami, Florida and even Florida State could all be in the mix.
