Longhorns get JUCO DE Commitment

Texas picked up a commitment from a former Georgia DE commitment on Wednesday.

Defensive lineman Quincy Vasser (Navarro College) has committed to Texas.

Texas defensive line coach Chris Rumph visited with Vasser moments ago and the future Longhorn defensive linemen called Charlie Strong and informed him of his intentions to join the Texas program.

Rumph played a huge role in convincing Vasser Texas is the place he will have the most success.

He was committed to the University of Georgia for months but decommitted from the Bulldogs on Tuesday night, which opened the door for his decision today.

His official visit to Texas for the TCU game really changed his mind.

Vasser (6-foot-4, 265 pounds) is the second player from Navarro College that UT has picked up a commitment from in 2015. Offensive lineman Tristan Nickelson, a one-time Iowa State commitment, flipped over to the Longhorns after a visit for Texas' game against West Virginia. Nickelson was in town with Vasser last week.

Vasser is the 19th verbal commitment for Texas in 2015 and the fourth defensive lineman along with DE Louis Brown, DE Charles Omenihu and DT Du'Vonta Lampkin.

Of the 19 committed players, 12 are on the offensive side of the ball.

He will not be the last player to switch his commitment to Texas.
