Malik Jefferson Says Yes to Texas

Five-star LB Malik Jefferson has just committed to Texas.

In one of the most highly anticipated announcements of the 2015 recruiting season, 5-star linebacker Malik Jefferson (Mesquite, Texas/Poteet) has committed to the Longhorns. He announced his decision at his high school early Friday morning.

Jefferson was down to Texas, UCLA and Texas A&M.

The humble superstar is the No. 1-ranked outside linebacker in America. He checks in at No. 3 in the country - regardless of position.

The five-star standout has offers from major programs across the country but at the end of the day has decided to play for Charlie Strong, linebacker coach Brian Jean-Mary and defensive coordinator Vance Bedford. Coach Jean-Mary was instrumental in the recruitment of Jefferson, who was locked in a battle with the Aggies and Bruins as well.

Scout.com Take:

Makes a ton of plays behind the line of scrimmage. He has a long, athletic frame, but is ripped. Still has room to add some more size, which makes his physique potential even more impressive. He uses his hands well when needed to get off his blocks and has tremendous closing speed in the open field. He gets off the ball quickly, and a fast first step gives him and advantage. Finishes well and rarely does a back get away after he makes contact.
