The coaches of both programs, as well as UCLA, are all still actively recruiting the 6-foot-5, 204-pound prospect, who shined in day one of practice.
"I'm still considering my options. I'm going to take my UCLA official visit on the 17th. I've been talking to Texas pretty heavy, and I've also been talking to Cal.
"I already took visits to Texas Tech and Cal. I want to take one to Texas yet, but I’m not sure where that’s going to be,” he said.
Strickland says he's been talking with the Texas staff for a few months and that the relationship has slowly developed.
“I’ve been talking to them for a while. They offered me in the spring and since then we have been talking, gaining trust. They have told me that I can come in and take over for John Harris, really ball there,” he said.
The receiver says he's taking his time and looking at some specific criteria when whittling down his decision.
"I want to go somewhere I can develop not only as a player, but also a person. I'm also looking at the school itself, not just the football program," he said.
He believes a decision could come in "maybe late January."
This week, Strickland is taking in the Semper Fi experience and enjoying his time playing alongside some of the country's best athletes.
“It’s really great, coming out here and being able to play with all of the good athletes from around the nation. You don’t get this experience a lot, so you just have to take in everything, absorb it all,” he said.
