An elite level athlete with a tremendous burst and top-end speed. He plays both ways in high school at RB/WR and CB, but figures to be a defensive player by most once he gets to college and has a desire to play defense in college. He has turn and run ability, and his size at the position gives him an advantage in one-on-one coverage against big, elite level wide receivers. All of those skills will make him a very high level rated prospect.

Boyd helped Gilmer win the Texas Class 4A Division II state championship with a 16-0 record. Boyd was a two-way standout, finishing with 1,052 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns on 9.8 yards per carry. Boyd caught 36 passes for 808 yards and nine touchdowns, giving him 1,860 yards from scrimmage and 31 touchdowns on 13.0 yards per touch. On defense, Boyd accumulated 43 tackles, two interceptions, one fumble recovery, and four pass breakups.
Boyd had a big junior year on both sides of the ball, rushing for almost 1,200 yards and scoring 23 total touchdowns, while forcing two fumbles and recovering another from his spot at cornerback.
As a sophomore, Boyd racked up over 1,400 yards on offense and scored 21 touchdowns and earned 16-3A District Offensive Newcomer of the Year and honorable mention all-state honors.
Kris Boyd will make his official visit with Texas the weekend of January 17th.
