I was told by a source close to the situation that former Houston head coach Tony Levine is no longer a candidate for the Texas TEs/special teams coaching position at this time - that Charlie Strong will go in a different direction.
Trying to get more details, but Levine was considered a finalist for this job as of Tuesday, and now Strong's search continues. Might be because Levine simply isn't ready to get back in the game after being blindsided by his firing at Houston (which reached a bowl game this season) in favor of Tom Herman.
Other coaches who have expressed interest, I'm told, include Shane Beamer, RB/special teams coordinator at Virginia Tech under his father Frank Beamer; as well as former Longhorn and former Florida TEs coach Derek Lewis.
I'm told Charlie has talked to several WR coaching candidates, including former Oklahoma co-offensive coordinator Jay Norvell, South Florida WR coach Ron Dugans, who served as WR coach at Louisville under Strong, as well as Oregon State RB coach Chris Brasfield.
Brasfield, who spoke to Strong at the coaches convention as well, went to TCU and is from San Antonio. He has worked with receivers but has primarily coached RBs - his job at Oregon State the past four seasons. He's earning $180,264 this year - in case you're interested.
