Nick Brossette

High School:

Baton Rouge, LA/University Lab

Position:

RB

Measurables:

5-11, 209

Committed:

LSU

Scout.com's Evaluation:

"Brossette is a bigger back who can run downhill and move the chains. He sees the field well, he lets the blocks set up, and he runs with patience. He lets the holes open up, then he hits them with good speed. He is not considered a speed back, but a back with power, a back with good sudden quickness, and a big that can carry his team. He can get to the perimeter as well, but he is at his best between the tackles." - Chad Simmons

Strengths:

Balance

Size

Vision

Weaknesses

Breakaway Speed

The 411:

The Longhorns have been after Brossette for a while now despite the fact that he’s been committed to LSU since Aug. 2013, and despite the fact that Texas had three RB commitments for most of that time.

The Longhorns are down to two RB pledges at the moment – Tristian Houston and Kirk Johnson – and are hoping either Brossette, Soso Jamabo, or Chris Warren will commit as well.

Texas’ reasons for going after Brossette are simple: he’s that good. A change-of-pace back, who can also make a living running between the tackles, Brossette finished his high school career as one of the best backs to ever come through Louisiana.

He obliterated Kenny Hilliard’s state record for total career touchdowns… as a junior.

Those type of numbers gained him tons of offers from the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and UCLA.

The No. 17 RB overall has given in to the pressure a bit with visits to places outside of Baton Rouge. One of the programs he’s also been most interested in is Texas.

The Longhorns will finally get the opportunity to host Brossette this weekend as he is expected to come to town for his official visit.
