With 4-star DB Tim Irvin flipping his commitment from Texas to Auburn, the Longhorns have a healthy list of defensive backs they are still recruiting, including Holton Hill and Kris Boyd, who are just finishing up their official visits to Texas.

Here's where things stand after the Irvin decommit, which was becoming more and more likely with how difficult it was to reach Irvin (who had a very close relationship with Auburn DB coach Travaris Robinson, who recruited Irvin at Florida).

This will now cause questions about what Davante Davis is thinking. And while Irvin had been hard to reach, Davis had been in constant communication with the Texas coaches leading up to this weekend. So now we'll see if that changes. If Davis follows Irvin to Auburn, the next guys up on the DB list for Texas - in addition to Holton Hill and Kris Boyd - would be:

* CB Deandre Baker, 6-0, 175, of Miami Northwestern

* CB Sheldrick Redwine, 6-1, 185, of Miami Killian

* CB Mark Fields, 5-10, 175, of William Amos Hough (NC)

* CB Xavier Lewis, 5-11, 180, of East Saint John (Louisiana)

Obviously, all of those listed are being recruited heavily by other schools.

Baker has a soft verbal to Georgia, but he was scheduled to visit Texas on Jan. 31, and that may now be getting bumped up to next weekend (Jan. 24). If he makes that visit and his father comes with him on that visit, it's probably a sign that Texas is truly in the picture.

Mark Fields has mentioned that Clemson is his leader, but Chris Vaughn had a good in-home visit with Fields last Thursday. Fields now needs to make it to Texas for his visit on Jan. 24.

Redwine has a soft verbal to Louisville and was also on the visit to Auburn with Tim Irvin this past weekend. But Redwine has shown a lot of interest in Texas and has a visit currently planned for Jan. 31 to Austin.

Lewis is currently committed to LSU but has a visit planned to Texas for Jan. 31. Lewis' consideration of Texas would probably be bolstered by a commitment from Nicholas Brossette, since they are both Louisiana kids currently committed to the Tigers. But we'll just have to wait and see on that.
