Anthony Wheeler Player Preview

The No 1 ranked middle linebacker prospect in the state of Texas checks in from Dallas (TX) Skyline. Anthony Wheeler is a four-star prospect, No 4 ranked middle linebacker nationally and No 111 in the country regardless of position.

Anthony Wheeler is a 6-foot-3, 225-pound wrecking ball of a linebacker. He plays the game fast, physical and aggressive. He has great size for the position and will continue to get bigger, stronger and faster. Wheeler is at his best when he is playing the game downhill and attacking the ball.

The Longhorns have done an outstanding job at the linebacker position for 2015. Texas landed Malik Jefferson, Cameron Townsend, Breckyn Hager and Cecil Cherry in addition to Anthony Wheeler.

Scout.com Take:

One of the more physically imposing players in the class at this early juncture. He looks like a kid's wrestling figurine. He lines up at defensive end and linebacker on his sophomore film and makes a good amount of plays. He runs well for a bigger framed linebacker and should be a perfect fit as a MLB unless he grows into a true DE over the course of his natural development. Hits like a ton of bricks and ball carriers do not escape his grasp.

Wheeler is scheduled to make his official visit to Texas this weekend.
