The four-star wide receiver held offers from UCLA, Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, California, Clemson, Texas and Tennessee to name a few. He was originally committed to UCLA but has decided there is no place like home.

Newsome is one of the premiere speed prospects in all of the country. He is also one of the top-rated slot wide receivers and deservedly so. he brings exactly what you want in this style of player. He can line up all over the field and gash defense with big plays and can score any time he gets his hands on the ball. 2014: Newsome caught 54 passes for 1,073 yards and 12 touchdowns, while rushing for 470 yards and seven touchdowns on 8.2 yards per carry for an Aledo team that won its fifth state championship in six years with a Class 5A Division I title. Newsome also returned two punts for touchdowns.

2013: As a junior, Newsome ran for 826 yards and eight touchdowns on 9.9 yards per carry. He also caught 21 passes for 532 yards and 10 touchdowns, while recording a staggering seven punt return touchdowns and one kickoff return touchdown for a state-title squad.

2012: Newsome gained 477 yards from scrimmage -- 333 rushing, 144 receiving on 12 catches -- and averaged 7.8 yards per touch, scoring five touchdowns. He also returned one kickoff for a score.
