Devway Whaley on the Longhorns

Devway Whaley is being recruited as heavily as any single player in America. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound running back checks in from Beaumont (Texas) Central Senior and is the No 22 ranked running back in the class of 2016 and No 3 ranked back in the state of Texas.

Devway Whaley holds offers from every major program a recruit could ask with Alabama, Baylor, Georgia, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, TCU, Tennessee and Texas to name a few.

”The recruiting process is fun but can be stressful as well,” Whaley said. “I’ve only been to Texas A&M game during the season and I’ve been to Baylor and A&M junior days. I plan on taking visits in the spring.”

Midland RB Rank 3

Texas RB Rank 3

The four-star has great vision, burst and anticipation and in my opinion is the No 1 ranked running back in the state of Texas. Whaley is just starting to build relations with the Texas coaching staff.

”I like the Texas coaching staff,” Whaley said. “They are all about the players and wanting to win and be successful.”

Charlie Strong recently spoke to Whaley and he will stay involved with the standout back moving forward. He is exactly what Texas and Coach Strong are looking for in a running back.

”Me as a player,” Whaley said. “I am a physical running back, with speed and strength who is not afraid to lower his shoulders.”
