Buechele (6-1, 190) is one of the top-ranked QBs in the country. He is the No. 2-ranked quarterback in Texas, the No. 2-ranked quarterback in the Midland region and the No. 11-ranked player at his position in the class of 2016.
The son of former Texas Rangers third baseman Steve Buechele, Shane has great competitiveness, a winner's mentality and presence on the field, a high football IQ and above all else natural leadership ability.
He ultimately decided to end the speculation and join the Longhorn Nation.
Texas already has commitments from two of the top-ranked, 2016 receivers in 4-star Collin Johnson (6-4, 200), Scout's No. 13-ranked receiver in the country, and 4-star Reggie Hemphill (6-1, 175), Scout's No. 11-ranked receiver nationally. There's a reason Johnson was hinting at big news coming regarding Texas on his Twitter feed the last couple days.
Buechele can beat you with his arm and his legs. He's accurate and knows how to throw receivers open - something many high school quarterbacks have yet to learn.
With the addition of Buechele, the Longhorns have four verbal commitments for the class of 2016. He joins Hemphill, Johnson and defensive standout Demarco Boyd.
Texas will look to take 19-21 players in the class of 2016.
