My Take: DT Kendell Jones

One of the most physically impressive high school football players you will ever find is defensive tackle, Kendell Jones. The five-star standout checks in at 6-foot-5, 360-pounds. The nation's No 18 overall ranked player is keeping a close eye on the Texas Longhorns.

Kendell Jones is a five-star stand out from Killeen (Texas) Shoemaker H.S. Jones holds offers from the biggest names in college football. Alabama, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma and Texas are just a few to extend an offer.

Inside The Numbers: Rank No 18 Overall

Position Rank No 5

Midland DT Rank No 2

Texas DT Rank No 2

Jones has a fantastic relationship with multiple coaches including Charlie Strong and Brian Luc Jean-Mary. Jones has visited Austin (Texas) an astounding 13 times over the last few year. The amount of trips he has made coupled with Strong and his ability to put players into the National Football League makes the Longhorns the team beat for Jones. Just under 50% of Strong’s first full recruiting class at Louisville was drafted.

Recruiting is about the most unstable factor when it comes to college football. What looks good today might look like a million to one tomorrow. Having said that, as of today the Texas Longhorns are in a great position to land the No 1 ranked defensive player in the state of Texas in my opinion.

Jones will more than likely make trips to Baylor, Texas, Texas Tech, TCU and Arkansas over the summer.
