DeJon Jarreau Talks Longhorns Offer

2016 PG DeJon Jarreau talks about picking up a Longhorns offer on Monday afternoon.

Shortly after Shaka Smart finished an hour-long media session with UT beat writers on Monday, he was put in touch with 2016 point guard DeJon Jarreau (New Orleans, La./McDonogh) and offered him.

“I was just really surprised and happy,” he said. “He told me that he really loved the culture at UT and that I had a scholarship from Texas.”

Jarreau (6-foot-4, 180 pounds) now has offers from Arizona, Boston College, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana Lafayette, UMass, Memphis, Oklahoma, Oral Roberts, Tulsa and Washington.

He said that all of the offers are really jumbled up right now but that there were a few programs that are doing a great job communicating with him.

“The ones that I really, really communicate with are UMass, Boston College, Miami and Oklahoma State,” he said. “They hit me up a lot.”

Jarreau said that his best attributes as a player center around his ability to facilitate.

“I can get to the goal. I can play off the ball,” he said. “I can play defense. I just think that I’m a disciplined player too.”

The lengthy point guard doesn’t know much about UT but he does know Longhorns point guard Java Felix from New Orleans.

One of the few things he does know about Smart is that he enforces a really fast system.

“He presses, he runs pick-and-rolls,” he said. “I like pick-and-rolls. That’s my favorite thing to do.”

Jarreau said he would visit Texas at some point.
