Cameron Townsend #LETSRIDE Series Continues

Outside linebacker Cameron Townsend is ready for Austin (Texas) The four-star linebacker checks in at 6-foot-1, 210-pounds from Missouri City (Texas) Ridge Point H.S. In a few short weeks he and the rest of the 2015 class will begin their careers at Texas.

Cameron Townsend is part of a fantastic 2015 linebacker group for the University of Texas. Townsend joins Malik Jefferson, Anthony Wheeler, Cecil Cherry and Breckyn Hager. Townsend is looking forward to this opportunity ahead.

”I’m most looking forward to playing football at a high level, at a big time program and making plays, that’s all,” Townsend said. “My main focus lately is making sure I come into the summer in good shape and at about 215-pounds. I haven’t been working any techniques lately, I’ve just been focusing on getting bigger, stronger and faster.”

Townsend has a great relationship with the defensive coaches and is looking forward to growing those in the future.

”I have good relationships with the coaches,” Townsend said. “We don’t’ talk as much now that they aren’t recruiting me anymore, but I can still call just to say what’s up sometimes. The fans can expect someone that is going to play at a high lieve on the field and be a role model off the field.” Take:

Townsend is a linebacker who uses speed to his advantage. He is good in pass coverage assignments and can cover slot receivers. Additionally, he flies to the football and is aggressive against the run. He is a big-hitter and a sound tackler. He is that new age style of linebacker who is not a liability against the run or the pass –G. Powers.
