Longhorns offer four-star Houston DE

Charlie Strong and the Longhorns extended an offer to a four-star DE from Houston recently.

Chambers told HD on Friday that the Longhorns offered. It was an offer he'd been wanting for a long time.

The question now becomes: Is Texas too late to the party?

The 6-foot-3, 235-pound pass-rushing demon, who is rated as the No. 8 DE and No. 80 player in the country, boasts one of the more impressive offers lists in the country.

Schools that have offered him include Baylor, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma Oklahoma State, Oregon, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M, Cal and many, many more.

Chambers is one of 12 DE's the Longhorns have offered in 2016. Only five of those are from Texas and one of those is already committed to another program (Mark Jackson - Texas A&M).

Expect the Longhorns to kick their recruitment of Chambers into high gear starting immediately with hopes that they can make up for offering him later than he probably envisioned.

Chambers is an impressive end prospect. He has a very nice combination of height and size and possesses the upper and lower body strength to squeeze and shed blockers who also have size. He moves well for his size with above average short area burst, which allows him to consistently put pressure on quarterbacks and deliver hits. It seems like he is hitting the quarterback or pressuring him more often than not. Can and will deliver big hits. -Greg Powers
