TE Peyton Aucoin Loving the Longhorns

New Orleans tight end Peyton Aucoin is keeping a close eye on the Longhorns.

We’ll have a lot clearer understanding as to what the Longhorns’ tight ends class will look like on June 19 when three-star Jack Stoll announces his commitment to either Texas or Nebraska.

Whether or not Stoll’s decision will impact Peyton Aucoin (New Orleans, Brother Martin) remains to be seen. For the time being, the 6-foot-5, 251-pound three-star tight end remains very interested in the Longhorns.

“Things are going really well,” he said. “They are one of my top teams.”

Aucoin said that his top teams at the moment are the Longhorns, Vanderbilt, North Carolina State, Michigan, Ole Miss and Missouri. He said that he talks to Texas at least once a week.

Aucoin took an unofficial visit with his parents and sister to Austin in late April, and seemed to love his time on the 40 Acres.

“It was a trip I was looking forward to,” he told HD’s Jason Higdon. “It didn’t necessarily give me a new perspective but instead showed me the true Texas regarding the school, town, program, and facilities. I liked what I saw regarding those things.”

Texas made him feel like he could be an important part of its future plans at the ‘Y’ position.

”My talk with Coach Strong was great because he emphasized the program, principles and his expectations for his players,” Aucoin said. “My parents loved Coach Strong and his style of coaching. Coach Watson talked about my ability to fit into the offense and play a true Y position and how important I am to them. The plan for the new offense was great because I could fit into it and thrive. Texas stands as one of my top schools right now. I just enjoyed it over there.”

Aucoin said he wasn’t sure of his summer visit plans yet but would like to get back to Austin at some point.
