He may have only just finished his freshman year of high school, but that hasn't stopped schools from keeping a close eye on 2018 quarterback Jalen Mayden (Sacshe, Texas).
The Longhorns got a chance to learn a lot more about the younger brother of 2016 four-star cornerback Jared Mayden at their mini camp on Sunday and, from the sounds of it, it won't be the last time UT has him on campus.
I've always loved UT," he said. "Its tradition cannot be touched. It's just unbelievable and the coaching staff is building something I feel I can be a part of."
Mayden said that he did really well in the camp, especially during individual drills with Longhorns quarterbacks coach Shawn Watson, whom he got to speak with after the camp during a tour of the facilities.
"Me and Coach Watson talked a bit, mostly about coming to watch me during the fall about an offer."
Right now it's just entirely too early for Mayden to even comprehend narrowing things down. But he does want to let it be known that he wants to be at the forefront of Texas' mind as UT figures out what it wants to do with a QB in 2018.
Mayden is working to become the starter for a Sachse program that just missed out on the playoffs in 2014. He is a true dual-threat that can test defenses with his arm and legs.
