2017 LB Anthony Hines Recaps Longhorns Visit

4-star 2017 linebacker Anthony Hines (Plano, Texas/East) recaps his UT visit from earlier this week.

The Longhorns are hosting several big-time targets this weekend, but had another monster recruit on campus earlier this week.

Anthony Hines, who has as many offers as anyone in the country regardless of classification, stopped by Austin at the beginning of the week to get a better feel for one of the teams coming after him the hardest.

"I came with my dad and fellow 2017 recruit Eno Benjamin, and it went great," he said. "I toured the facilities and campus and visited with the staff."

Hines got first-class treatment from the staff and even got to catch up with some current Longhorns players, most notably touted freshman linebacker Malik Jefferson, who is doing what he can to get Hines to the 40 Ares.

"I talked to Malik briefly," Hines said. "He was in the middle of a team workout so I didn't want to get him in trouble."

Jefferson, no doubt, will have a say in how the Longhorns end up with Hines, who views MJ as a mentor of sorts. But MJ and the Longhorns will have to compete with virtually every other single program in the country for his services.

The good news for Texas, Hines said he is definitely "interested in UT."

He wants to start to narrow things down considerably after his junior season.

Something else the Longhorns could take pride in is that while Hines could take some more visits this summer, he doesn't have any planned at the moment. So that UT visit could linger with him for a while.

One of Hines' last visits to Austin came in Nov., 2014 for a home game. He recapped his visit with HD's Jason Higdon: "The stadium was gigantic, and the crowd easily filled up to the max capacity within ten minutes that was astounding," Hines said. "My dad was very impressed as well! Texas played extremely well, and the linebacker play was impressive. It was a great win against a top 25 team. I got they're late, so everyone was kind of isolated, so I didn't get the opportunity to talk to any recruits. I spoke with Coach [Vance] Bedford, and he told me that they wanted me to be a Longhorn and that he knew I would be a future Longhorn. He said he was going to make personally sure that I sign with them!"
