He Said, He Said: Must-get 2016 Recruit

Which uncommitted recruit in the 2016 class can Texas not live without?

Chip Brown’s Take

Because the offensive line is still the biggest position of need for the Longhorns, I would say 4-star OL Jean Delance of North Mesquite is the 2016 uncommitted recruit Texas can't live without.

Delance has the frame at 6-5, 275 pounds to put on 30 to 40 pounds and still maintain his athleticism.

Initially committed to Oklahoma, Delance de-committed after video of a racist chant by OU fraternity members went viral.

The circumstances might not have been typical in terms of Delance's path to Texas. But Delance is taking more and more pictures where the Hook 'em Horns are being flashed.

So OU's misfortune may end up being Texas' gain in this instance.

William Wilkerson’s Take

Gimmie hard-hitting safety Brandon Jones.

The Nacogdoches (Texas) prospect, and one of the top safeties in the country, seems to really be warming up to Charlie Strong’s program. At first I thought he was headed for Texas A&M but lately I’ve come to think of it as more of a Texas vs. LSU battle.

Eric Monroe’s recent commitment to the Tigers has to help Texas’ chances.

If the Longhorns can get Jones on board then Vance Bedford and Chris Vaughn start to build some scary talented depth at the backend of that secondary.

If I didn’t pick Jones here I’d probably go with CB Eric Cuffee and OT Jean Delance here.
