Jamal Pettigrew checks in at 6-foot-6, 230-pounds. The New Orleans (LA) St. Augustine H.S. standout loves what Texas head coach Charlie Strong is doing with the program. Pettigrew is being recruited by tight end coach Jeff Traylor as well as Brick Haley. Pettigrew has had a busy summer.

”So far I’ve been to Florida for a visit and I plan to go to Texas July 18th, Pettigrew said.

Pettigrew has four offers standing out with LSU, Texas, Florida and Alabama. LSU, Texas and Florida are showing the most attention at this time.

”I love what Charlie Strong is doing with the program,” Pettigrew said. “He’s turning the whole thing around. Coach Strong, [Brick] Haley and [Jeff] Traylor are recruiting me.”

What kind of player would the Texas fans get to see over the next four to five years?

”The would definitely see a passionate guy that loves the game of football and loves to have fun while playing,” Pettigrew said. “Also, a guy that refuses to lose and be beaten. They would see a leader on the field that want’s all his teammates to excel.”
