UTL Camp Preview: Under the Radar

Saturday July 18th Charlie Strong will hold the 2nd annual Under the Lights camp. Longhorn fans can expect in upwards of 150 high school football players from the classes of 2016, 2017 and 2018 to attend. I will take a look at two under the radar prospects from 2016 with a chance to make some noise - Ke'Mon Freeman and Tamrick Pace.

Ke’Mon Freeman checks in at 6-foot, 205-pounds from Texarkana (Texas) Liberty – Eylau. He holds offers from Arkansas State, North Texas and SMU. Freeman plays the quarterback position for Liberty but is being strongly looked at as a defensive back in the 2016 class by many teams including Alabama and Texas.

”I would love to be teammates with all of them and coach [Jeff] Traylor is an amazing man,” Freeman said.

Keep an eye on 2017 standout defensive end Lagaryonn Carson. Carson checks in at 6-foot-5, 250-pounds and is teammates with Freeman.

Switching over to the offensive side ball and a player I am looking forward to watching work is 2016 wide receiver Tamrick Pace. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound wide receiver checks in from Brownsboro (Texas) and will be in action on Saturday night.

Pace is extremely raw but has all the physical tools you look for in a standout wide receiver. He has legitimate speed and a nice frame. Teams showing interest are Texas, Houston and Northwestern.

Both Freeman and Pace have flown under the radar on the recruiting trail. On July 18th with impressive camp performances on a national stage all that could change. The safety/wide receiver boards are very deep and talented so both players will have their work cut out for themselves.
