He’s “A1” as the kids like to say; a recruit the staff really, really wants.
Problem is, he’s wanted by pretty much every other program in the country.
But this is a linebacker the Longhorns feel good about, a player that will be at UTL for the second straight year, and a recruit that will be there with another huge LB target in Jeffrey McCulloch.
There is a long way to go here but UT is firmly in the mix.
This is also a recruit Malik Jefferson is after as well.
A bit of an unknown at this stage, but a big body that can move his feet.
He’ll need to put together a great camp in addition to a tremendous season to garner Texas’ attention.
Louisiana-Monroe is his only offer to date.*****
This is a player to keep an eye on for sure. A speedy defensive end/outside linebacker who has a frame that should be able to hold much more weight once he gets to college.
Jeff Traylor visited him on May 5.
Another one of Texas’ top overall targets, the Shark is truly a special blend of size and speed.
One of The Opening’s top performers, McCulloch has been linked to the Longhorns for a long time. But this by no means is a done deal. He’s visited Florida, gotten visits from staffers from Florida and Florida State (in addition to Vance Bedford). He attended a Texas A&M camp in early June and then a Michigan camp in Houston the following day.
It should help that Jackson will be with him as the staff and the 2016 commitments in attendance will have the opportunity to sell the Longhorns dream to both of them.
We’ll see if he actually shows up. If he does, who knows if the Longhorns can remain in the mix with the LSU commitment.*****
This is one of the recruits to pay special attention to if he does, indeed, make it to Austin.
He has the Longhorns No. 2 right now behind LSU, the team he’s been committed to for quite some time.
But the path to playing time could be easier for him in Austin and the coaching staff will surely sell him on how much it currently uses its TE in all facets of the offense.
There is an cautiously optimistic feeling with Pettigrew from those that know. Let’s get through Saturday first.
The Longhorns are in play here and will get a huge boost if he actually takes the time to come to Austin on his own dime.
Another player the staff has kept in close contact with for a long time, Wallace is a definite possibility to end up in this class.
One of Texas’ most recent commitments, Wilbon will get an opportunity to better familiarize himself with the staff, campus and fellow commitments if he makes the trip from The Boot.*****
A monster physically, Williams was a guy that turned heads amongst the media when he showed up at one of Texas’ Junior Days a few months ago.
He is someone that can play on both lines and someone that could do himself a world of good with a solid camp and great senior season.*****
He’s been committed to TCU since May 29 but there is an outside chance that he shows up for Texas’ camp.
If he does, we’ll investigate and figure out where his head is at with everything. But let’s see if he actually shows up first.
A “Go Daddy” as our own Gabe Brooks like to say for those recruits that are just on another level.
Madubuike doesn’t say much publicly so it’s hard to get a read on where his head is at with everything. But he’s expected to make it to Austin for this camp where he’d be in that Dontavious Jackson, Jeffrey McCulloch, Jammal Pettigrew, Stephon Taylor category as far as recruits the staff would pay special attention to.
He’ll walk on nothing but red carpet if he shows up.
