Jamal Pettigrew Recaps Texas Visit

The No 168 ranked overall player in the class of 2016 is tight end, Jamal Pettigrew. The 6-foot-6, 230-pound four-star is currently committed to LSU but for how much longer? Pettigrew and his father visited Texas for the Under the Lights Camp this past weekend.

”The overall experience was great,” Jamal Pettigrew said. “I got to meet the coaches and just chill. I saw how there coaching skills were and they didn’t fail. Every coach that Texas has is a great coach and very energetic especially coach [Jeff] Traylor.”

Pettigrew has maintained a close relationship with the entire coaching staff. He is committed to LSU, but the Longhorns are making a serious push.

”Texas means a lot to mainly because of the coaches they are all great guys and great coaches,” Pettigrew said. “If your a hard working person and a humble one you can play for them.”

Throughout the entire weekend, Texas coaches hosted some of the top high school football players in America. Jamal Pettigrew had the attention of Charlie Strong and the entire staff through the entire weekend.

”I don't think it was special attention,” Pettigrew said. “I think it was just great coaches that came together to host a great person and the trip went great definitely can't wait to get back there. I made it home safe just a little less sick then I was last night.”

Pettigrew gets after it. He plays the game hard with a lot of toughness and fight. Has a good frame and catch the ball is a real strength of his. Has very reliable hands and a long wingspan making tough catches look easy at times. As a blocker, he is solid, but his technique can improve. Deceptive speed. Not a burner, but covers a lot of ground with long strides. He is a big-time weapon in the red zone. Extends to the ball well and can high-point.
