Closer Look: 2016 WR Donell Dunn

Three-star wide receiver Donell Dunn (Cypress, Texas/Cy Springs) put on quite the show at Texas’ “Under the Lights” recruiting event on Saturday at Darrel K. Royal Texas-Memorial Stadium.

The senior speedster impressed spectators who had never heard of or seen him.

Dunn (6-foot, 183 pounds) did great in the receiver-defensive back drills using his 4.51 speed to leave defenders in his wake.

The fans enjoyed Dunn and Dunn enjoyed the event.

“It was great,” he said. “The coaches were great and overall the camp was great.”

Dunn talked some to Texas’ receivers coach Jay Norvell, but could not discuss the conversation in depth.

“It was a good one,” he said.

Following the camp, Dunn said he would come back for another visit upon Norvell’s request.

He has not been offered by Texas but is hoping to receive one. He currently holds offers from Arkansas, Cincinnati, Fresno State, Illinois, Kansas, North Texas, Stephen F Austin, Texas State, Texas Tech UNLV and Pennsylvania.

Texas Tech has the highest interest.

A little more about Dunn: He has a 35.2-inch vertical and benches 250 pounds.

A three-star recruit, he is the 18th-ranked receiver in the state and No. 108 overall.
