Longhorns in Deontay Anderson's Top 5

Deontay Anderson (Manvel, Texas) released his Top 5 on Sunday night and Texas made the cut.

Anderson's Top 5 [in alphabetical order] are: LSU, Ole Miss, Texas, Texas A&M and USC.

A teammate of Texas WR commitment Reggie Hemphill, Anderson is one of the top defensive playmakers in the country regardless of position.

Anderson is well put together and a tremendous athlete at the safety position. He is able to stop and start quickly, giving him a good break on the ball to defend passes as well as the ability to come up quickly in run support. He is one of the player who just seems to have a nose for the football. He is often in the right place at the right time. Plays under control and moves with direct intent. Well tested against top-level competition. - GP

He's been linked to other schools a bit more than Texas - like LSU and Ole Miss - but the Longhorns remain in the mix in large part because of Charlie Strong, his coaching staff, and the relationships they've personally built with the No. 53 player in the country.
