Miami Booker T. Washington tight end and Longhorns' signee Devonaire Clarington has been anxiously waiting to hear of his academic fate at Texas all summer.
Last week, he vowed silence on Twitter until he received his NCAA eligibility ruling. I was able to track down Clarington Wednesday afternoon, and he confirmed the NCAA is requiring him to retake his ACT standardized entrance exam.
He did not want to give many details about the situation. But Clarington said he doesn't know when he'll retake the ACT, nor does he know how soon he could be eligible at Texas.
"I have no idea when I will retake it, and I don't know when I will be eligible," Clarington said. "I'm still going (to Texas). I don't know how soon it will be, but I will be okay."
