Spotlight Video: Texas commit Demarco Boyd

An exclusive look at Longhorns linebacker commitment Demarco Boyd (Gilmer, Texas).

Here's an exclusive look at Demarco Boyd, a three-star linebacker from Gilmer (Texas) High School, who has given a hard verbal pledge to the Longhorns.

In this eye-catching clip, you'll see firsthand what makes Boyd so disruptive on a football field as well as what excited him about his future both on and off the gridiron.

One of the main things to keep an eye on in this video is the versatility that Boyd brings to the field. Because of his strength and speed he plays all over the place for Gilmer's defense, including at linebacker, defensive end, and, occasionally, you'll even see him line up over the center.

When Boyd, rated as the No. 50 OLB in the country, first started getting recruited by Charlie Strong's program there were questions as to whether he'd play linebacker or move over to running back if he found his way to Austin. That speaks to his athleticism right there.

For now, at least, he'll arrive on the 40 Acres as a linebacker where he'll team up with his older brother, current UT freshman cornerback Kris Boyd, as part of Vance Bedford's defense.

Something else you'll notice in this video is the passion Boyd plays with, which has made him one of Texas' best recruiters for other top-tier recruits. You'll often see Boyd mixing it up with other recruits dropping subtle hints as to why they should join him in Austin. He's the type of player Strong wants to fill his roster with.

Boyd is a linebacker who has been used along the defensive front in the past, but had more of a breakout season in 2015 sniffing plays out. He took home defensive MVP honors at the state championship game, racking up plays behind the line of scrimmage. A bit undersized, Boyd is a hard-nosed player who just seems to make the plays when you need them. He is a good football player who thinks and reacts quickly and has good closing speed. - Greg Powers

Interviewed by Scout, Boyd talks about his abilities on the football field and so much more.
