Peyton Aucoin Ready to Bring Toughness to UT

Three-star Longhorns tight end commit Peyton Aucoin (New Orleans, LA/ Brother Martin) is ready to show Texas what he’s got.

Recently, Longhorns tight ends Blake Whiteley and Andrew Beck suffered injuries in camp. Whiteley is out for the season with an ACL tear, as first reported by HD's Chip Brown, while Beck was a participant in Texas' scrimmage on Saturday, according to William Wilkerson's scrimmage notes.

News of these injuries and how Texas is now running thin at TE has gotten Aucoin's attention.

“It was sad to hear and I hope he has a quick recovery,” the commit said.

While these injuries are a big focus for Texas, Aucoin has his sights set on his future with the Horns.

“Overall, I’m just excited to get up there and try and make a difference as quick as possible,” he said.

The 6’5 251-pound TE will be a huge body for Texas offensively. In recent years, the TE position has been primarily a blocking body, not used much for receiving. Aucoin already knows what he will bring to the team.

“A physical presence at the TE position and to bring some pride and passion back to the Texas name,” he said.

For anyone who has seen Aucoin play you'll notice right away how physically imposing he is and how he plays the game with the type of mean-streak that will endear him to his teammates.

Aucoin committed to Texas this past summer at the end of July. He has gotten to know new TE Coach Jeff Traylor who hopes to change the way the TE is used at Texas. Aucoin says he and Traylor have not spoken in depth about how he will be used.

“Not quite sure, maybe a more in-line use, but we haven’t talked about that lately,” the TE said.

As he enters his senior season, Aucoin is ready to make his last year count. He said camp is going really well and the team has some big goals for the season.

“We plan on going all the way,” he said.
