Hager was one of the early surprises of fall camp. He was often drawing praise from his teammates, including fellow LBs Malik Jefferson and Dalton Santos, because of his natural knack for making plays.
he appeared to be in line for some playing time at LB but suffered a knee injury on Thursday that kept him out for a few days. That could have had something to do with why he wasn’t on the depth chart for the Notre Dame game.
We’ll have to keep an eye on the knee injury – Chip Brown is reporting it’s not serious.
Expect to see Hager on special teams units to start out at Notre Dame and even, possibly, getting some snaps at middle linebacker with Malik Jefferson and Tim Cole.
How he ended up on the 40 Acres
Hager originally committed to Baylor on May 22 where his older brother, Bryce Hager, was an All-Big 12 linebacker.
But, two weeks after receiving his UT offer on Sept. 11, he decided to switch pledges and commit to Charlie Strong and the Longhorns.
