Count three-star Longhorns lineman commitment Gerald Wilbon (Destrehan, La.) as one of the overwhelming majority of observers inside Darrel K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday that felt something a little bit different about the vibe surrounding the game.
"I loved it," he said. "The fans seem traditional and love their team."
Much of the hype was due to Longhorns redshirt freshman Jerrod Heard getting his first start. Couple that energy with the expectations that came with new play-caller Jay Norvell, and the energy level was definitely up inside DKR.
"I like how the offense was able to move the ball," he said. "Heard didn't make any game-changing mistakes and the defense played better."
Did a visit like this further confirm his commitment to Charlie Strong's program?
"Yeah I think I'm 100 percent," he said.
Well Wilbon went on to say that he was going to make visits to other programs, he just wasn't sure when and where yet.
This is certainly something to keep an eye on moving forward.
