One offensive and one defensive player for TCU you need to know

Everyone knows about Trevone Boykin and Josh Doctson. Here are two other players that could impact Saturday's game.

USA Today

Aaron Green, running back – The entire country knows about Trvone Boykin and Josh Doctson. They’re the most dynamic quarterback-wide receiver duo in the country.

But Green is just as big a part of what TCU does offensively as anyone. The running back has been terrific this season rushing for an average of 108.5 yards per game.

Now, he’s not a huge threat out of the backfield but he made a heads-up play last week, keeping TCU’s undefeated hopes alive, when he hauled in a deflection in the back of the end zone for the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds of TCU’s 55-52 win over Tech.

Expect Green to get anywhere from 15-25 carries. He’s rushed for 164 and two touchdowns, and then 162 and two scores in TCU’s last two games against SMU and TTU respectively.

USA Today

Denzel Johnson, safety – Johnson has been solid in his first year as a starter leading the Frogs in total tackles (27), solo tackles (23), and pass deflections (4).

To put those numbers in perspective, Johnson played in all 25 games in his first two seasons and had only 22 tackles.

Johnson also has one interception (against SFA).

He was second on the team last week with eight tackles and 1 PBU.

He’s the guy that Jerrod Heard is going to need to be aware of when he tries to test TCU deep, which Jay Norvell wants him to do.
