This is what I'm hearing after talking to a couple of sources...
Kent Perkins was dressed out in full uniform today but he did not participate in team drills.
... In his place at RT was... Tristan Nickelson. The JUCO transfer got the majority of the 1st team reps today.
Daje Johnson was not out there today
... in his place was none other than Ryan Newsome.
Speaking of, where the hell was Newsome on Saturday? Daje goes down early and he can't even get on the field when he's 20 minutes from his hometown? This is one of the more passionate guys on the team. You all saw that picture of him with his arm around Charlie Strong as they were walking off the field a couple weeks ago, right? Maybe that will change this week.
Nick Jordan, Jon Coppens, and Evan Moore all had an opportunity to kick FGs today. That competition is wide open at the moment.
Shiro Davis was dressed out today but, like Perkins, he did not participate in team drills.
... Bryce Cottrell was working with the 1s at DE.
Johnathan Gray is still working ahead of D'Onta Foreman - Never thought I'd be writing that. I think it's time for a change.
Sounds like Joe Wickline is shuffling a whole bunch of different lineups this week trying to see which one works the best. At one point today, I'm told, Marcus Hutchins was working at LT in front of Connor Williams. Now, before you start flipping tables, Williams did end up working with the 1s. One source said Wickline was just giving Williams a break.
But, but, he did have Williams working with the 2s along with Brandon Hodges, Jake Raulerson, Terrell Cuney, and Elijah Rodriguez.
There was also a lineup of Hutchins, Hodges, Taylro Doyle, Elijah Rodriguez and Tristan Nickelson.
Lorenzo Joe got some work with the 1s today.
DeShon Elliott is now working with the second team.
Looks like Texas is going to stick with Duke Thomas as one of its starting CBs along with Holton Hill. I'm told John Bonney worked with the 1s today at nickel.
Kris Boyd and Davante Davis were second team CBs.
