Derrick Tucker talks about his game and head coach Charlie Strong

Defensive back Derrick Tucker is one of the most heavily recruited players in the state of Texas. He is a four-star safety checking in from Manvel (Texas) at 6-foot-3, 185-pounds. Tucker holds offers from Arkansas, TCU, Texas, Illinois and Missouri to name a few.

Derrick Tucker is ranked as the No 133 overall player in the class of 2017 regardless of position.  The No 8 ranked safety in the country, the No 2 ranked safety in the Midland region and the No 2 ranked safety prospect in the state of Texas.  He is long, lean and covers a lot of ground when the ball is in the air. 


Talk about what the recruiting process has been like for you and your family overall?


“It's been good overall fun,” Derrick Tucker said.


What advice would you give to someone you know that's about to go through this process?


“Just be patient and let it happen,” Tucker said.


What is your perception of Charlie Strong and the Longhorns? 


“I like him and I think he's going to take Texas to the top,” Tucker said.


Talk about the strengths of your game and what makes you a top recruit?


“One of my strengths is covering a lot of field,” Tucker said.  “I think I'm a great ball hawk and I can come down hard and make plays and my vision.”
