Tracking Texas Targets

Today’s Digest’Em takes a look at how some of Texas’ commits and targets performed during the first weekend of the Texas State Playoffs.

Texas commit four-star quarterback Shane Buechele led Arlington Lamar to a 39-33 win over Abliene. He completed 19 passes for 186 yards and three touchdowns.

Buechele is the No. 1 quarterback in Texas, No. 8 signal-caller in the nation, and No. 185 in the Scout 300.

Longhorn commit four-star wide receiver Reggie Hemphill-Mapps caught a 37-yard touchdown pass in Manvel’s 71-21 win over Channelview.

Hemphill-Mapps is the No. 6 ranked receiver in the state, No. 24 in the nation, and No. 121 in the Scout 300.

Texas commit four-star cornerback Obi Eboh and the Southlake Carroll Dragons defeated Cedar Hill 37-33. Eboh is the No. 3 corner in Texas, No. 17 in the nation at his position and No. 228 in the Scout 300.

In the same game, Texas target four-star running back Lil’Jordan Humphrey rushed for 176 yards and two touchdowns.

Longhorn commit three-star outside linebacker Demarco Boyd and Gilmer defeated Pleasant Grove, 40-36. Boyd entered the game with 377 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns; 27 receptions for 349 yards and four touchdowns; 40 tackles, four sacks, two forced fumbles and one interception.

Texas commit four-star defensive end Andrew Fitzgerald and the Flower Mound Marcus Marauders beat Keller Fossil Ridge, 57-14.

One of Texas’ newest targets suffered a loss Friday. Three-star offensive guard 

Zach Shackelford and the Belton Tigers were bounced from the playoffs in a highly-contested 65-64 shootout loss to Rowlett.

Longhorn target four-star running back Devwah Whaley rushed for 133 yards and three touchdowns in Beaumont Centrals 32-31 loss to Houston King.
