Jarrett Allen is, without question, one of the Longhorns top remaining targets in 2016.
Between he and Andrew Jones, they are easily the top two targets for Shaka Smart and his staff.
Could the Longhorns have received some positive news on Tuesday thanks in part to one of their chief competitors for Allen?
John Calipari added to his already insane recruiting class by picking up a commitment from five-star center Edrice Adebayo.
But what's this have to do with Allen and Texas? Well Kentucky was viewed as one of the favorites for the big man from Austin. It's very possible that they still could be. But the fact that there is already a five-star center committed to BBN can't hurt Texas' chances with Allen, right?
It would appear that Texas' biggest threats for Allen are Kansas, Kentucky, Houston and Notre Dame.
Allen has a very good relationship with Smart and the Texas coaching staff and seems to have a good rapport with Longhorns signee Jacob Young.
The Longhorns will be in dire need of help down low next season as they'll lose virtually all of their post players from this season. Texas has signed four-star center James Banks but his signing shouldn't have any impact on Allen since the two would likely play different post positions in college.
