Keeping up with the Texas commits and targets

As the high school playoffs rage on, Digest’Em helps keep with what Texas commits and recruits are doing in the playoffs.

Longhorn commit 2016 four-star quarterback Shane Buechele led the Arlington Lamar Vikings passed El Paso East Wood with a 129-yard passing and two-touchdown performance. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound senior quarterback added 113 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. Buechele and the Vikings meet Mansfield in 5A Regional Semifinals against Mansfield at AT&T Stadium on Saturday.

Texas commit 2016 three-star outside linebacker Demarco Boyd scored a rushing touchdown in Gilmer’s 63-14 win over Mexia. Boyd also recorded six tackles against Mexia.

The 6-foot, 215-pound senior linebacker is the No. 8 linebacker in Texas.

The Longhorns’ newest commit, 2016 three-star wide receiver Davion Curtis scored Temple’s game-winning touchdown. The Wildcats beat Houston Stratford 14-6.

Curtis, a 5-foot-11, 175 pound senior, is the No. 14 rated wide receiver in Texas. He runs a 4.50 40-yard dash.

Texas commits four-star defensive end Andrew Fitzgerald and four-star cornerback Obi Eboh and exited the playoffs this weekend. Fitzgerald and Flower Mound Marcus lost to Mansfield, 48-21, Eboh and Southlake Carrol lost to Denton Guyer, 48-38.

Longhorn commit 2017 four-star quarterback Sam Ehlinger recorded 160 passing yards and a touchdown. The 6-foot, 200-pound junior added 100 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Ehlinger is rated the No. 6 quarterback in Texas, the No. 20 signal-caller in the nation and No. 236 in the Scout 300.

2017 Texas commit four-star wide receiver Damion Miller hauled in two passes for 67 yards and a touchdown in Tyler John Tyler’s 77-51 to Mansfield Lake Ridge.

2017 Longhorn commit Lagaryonn Carson amassed nine tackles and four sacks in Liberty Eylau’s 48-9 win against Sanger.

2016 running back Lil’Jordan Humphrey recorded 53 yards rushing in Southlake Carroll’s loss.
