Importance of Visit: Jackson is on the short list of "Must Have" targets for the Longhorns in 2016. Texas is in good shape at linebacker with some of the younger backers in Malik Jefferson, Anthony Wheeler, Breckyn Hager, and Cameron Townsend. But they'd take a huge step forward by getting someone like Dontavious Jackson to commit. He's a hot commodity for several elite programs, including Michigan, which just picked up a commitment from four-star DT, and Texas target, Jordan Elliott. The Longhorns have been after Jackson as long as any linebacker in this class. He knows how much UT wants/needs him.

2016 Commitments at his Position: 1 - Demarco Boyd

Chance of a Commitment: 6 out of 10

Evaluation

Jackson is a true middle linebacker and brings to the table the skills you are looking for at the position. He's a pretty physical player and has good size to stand up to down to down punishment in the middle of a defense. He diagnoses the play quickly and is tough to block. He gets downhill quickly, showing great vertical quickness to get to ball carriers. He is at his best against the run. He runs through tackles and is a sure finisher. - GP
