When was Visit: Sunday
Which Texas coaches: Brick Haley
Importance of Visit: You could make the arguement that Wilbon is one of Texas' most important commitments considering that he's UT's only interior defensive line commitment and that Jordan Elliott committed to Michigan over the weekend. The Longhorns need to make sure that Wilbon ends up in Austin. He should.
2016 Commitments at his Position: 0
Chance of a Commitment: Committed
Evaluation: Destrehan High School near New Orleans is no stranger to producing FBS talent, and Gerald Wilbon is the latest.
Wilbon, a three-star lineman who has played on both sides of the ball, committed June 17 to Texas and has remained pledged to the Longhorns ever since.
Wilbon is sold on head coach Charlie Strong and the Texas coaching staff as the key reasons for his commitment. In addition to his offer from and pledge to the Horns, Wilbon holds offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Texas Tech, UCF, Arkansas State, Kent State, Southern Miss, Troy, Tulane, ULL, and Western Kentucky.
Scout ranks the strong, powerful Wilbon as the No. 2 offensive guard prospect in Louisiana, as well as the No. 49 offensive guard nationally for the 2016 class. That said, the 6-foot-3, 320-pounder will likely play defensive tackle once he arrives on the Forty Acres.
