Catching up with Johnson

Catching up with Johnson

2016 four-star wide receiver Collin Johnson is enrolling early and is excited to begin his career on the 40 acres.

“[I’m looking forward to] getting to work on making my dreams come true,” Johnson said.

Johnson, a 6-foot-4, 195-pound receiver from San Jose, California, committed to the Longhorns in April 2014, since then Texas has seen plenty of offensive changes. He said there’ll be opportunities to make plays under the Longhorns’ new offensive coaches.

“I’ve talked to the coaches and am very excited about the opportunities us wide outs will have to make plays,” Johnson said.

Johnson missed most of his senior season after suffering a torn labrum on Sept. 19. But he says he’ll be ready to play when he gets to Austin.

“It’s great,” Johnson said. “Ima be ready for spring ball.”

He added that Texas will be able to use its win against Baylor to help them in the offseason.

“That Baylor win was a big win and the momentum should carry over to 2016,” Johnson said.

Johnson runs an estimated 4.70 40-yard dash. He is the No. 5 ranked receiver in California, No. 33 receiver overall and comes in at No. 176 in the Scout 300.

This week’s edition features tweets from 2016 four-star wide receiver Quartney Davis, 2016 four-star offensive tackle Jean Delance, and Southlake Carroll teammates four-star cornerback Obi Eboh and four-star athlete Lil’Jordan Humphrey.
