Texas will host four-star DT Chris Daniels

The Texas Longhorns are sitting with 13 verbal commitments for the class of 2016. Texas will sign a full class when National Signing Day finally arrives the first Wednesday in February.

Head Coach Charlie Strong and the rest of the Texas Longhorns coaching staff are about to embark on an epic journey to NSD.  Over the next 29 days, Texas fans will see numerous high school football players make their pledge to join the Longhorn Nation.  Texas will sign somewhere in the neighborhood of 12-14 more players for the class of 2016.

January 16th, 2016 could be a monumental official visit weekend for Charlie Strong and the Texas Longhorns. Texas could host as many as 18-20 recruits combined with official and unofficial visits.  The next player tentatively scheduled for the 16th is the four-star defensive tackle, Chris Daniels.

Chris Daniels recently committed to Oklahoma on December 18th, 2015.  Days before his scheduled announcement, the Texas Longhorns surprised the four-star defensive tackle with an offer.  Daniels and his family will repay the offer with an official visit January 16th, 2016 as he joins a host of top tier recruits scheduled to attend.

Daniels checks in at 6-foot-3 ½, 300-pounds.  He has great explosion, quickness and size. Daniels is from Euless (Texas) Trinity High School.

Scout.com Take

He has the necessary size of an interior defensive line prospect, but has the get off, and an explosion of a defensive end and that is why colleges are lining up to get his signature. He would look good in multiple defensive fronts and alignments. He also has tremendous closing speed in the open field, which allows him to track down opposing ball carriers quickly and efficiently. His game changing kills are had to find in a defensive lineman. - GP
