Andrew Fitzgerald Official Visit Preview

The Texas Longhorns are sitting with 13 verbal commitments for the class of 2016. Texas will sign a full class when National Signing Day finally arrives the first Wednesday in February.

Head Coach Charlie Strong and the rest of the Texas Longhorns coaching staff are about to embark on an epic journey to NSD.  Over the next 26 days, Texas fans will see numerous high school football players make their pledge to join the Longhorn Nation.  Texas will sign somewhere in the neighborhood of 12-14 more players for the class of 2016.

January 16th, 2016 could be a monumental official visit weekend for Charlie Strong and the Texas Longhorns. Texas could host as many as 18-20 recruits combined with official, unofficial visits and early enrolle players.  The next player tentatively scheduled for the 16th is four-star defensive end Andrew Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald has attributes you just can’t teach with strength, size and explosion.  He had raved reviews from Semper Fi week and has a chance to improve his overall ranking.  Fitzgerald can easily add another 15-20-pounds and carry around 270-pounds.  If he can keep his explosion and quickness, he will have a huge impact in 2016.

Scout.com Take

Fitzgerald is a strong and powerful defensive end prospect, who plays with a blue-collar type of style. A good combo of skills he is perfectly suited to play strong-side defensive end. With a big frame, he can be physical at the point of attack, holding his ground allowing him to track ball carriers and make tackles. He also has a very quick get off for a prospect with his size, collapsing the pocket and putting pressure on quarterbacks. -GP
